Why Travel Is Priceless

Some see traveling as an expense rather than an experience. While relocating across the globe to explore the world can definitely drain a bank account, exposure to new perspectives, in essence, is entirely priceless. During my semester abroad, I have made it a personal goal to see everything and anything possible. I've stepped foot in eight different countries and had experiences that most people can only dream about. Meeting people from all around the world has opened my eyes to a newfound source of light, each person teaching me valuable lessons that I will carry with me forever.

In each country, I have learned about different cultures and experienced different foods that I never would’ve tried if I didn’t take the time to indulge in the unknown. Even though it may cost money, for what it’s worth, travel is priceless. The word “travel” encompasses more than just going from place to place, but holds the value of memories, laughs, transformation, perception, feelings of love and feelings of hope. A price cannot be put on these intangible treasures. After climbing to the top of a waterfall in Africa, I felt a sense of serenity that I’ve never quite felt before. I felt accomplished. I felt fulfilled. I looked around and thought to myself “I really did that with my own two legs.” Genuinely, I felt as if I was on top of the world.
